Chance to drive three ex-military vehicles. For each vehicle there will be a short briefing followed by a familiarisation loop. You will then be given the opportunity of driving the rough tracks which abound the site. Valid for 12 Stags/Hens.
This experience will last a total of approx. 75 minutes with approx. 1 hour in the vehicle.
You will be driving three ex-army vehicles from the 50's and 60's - the vehicles that we use are a Humber Armoured Personnel Carrier, ex Northern Ireland, an Austin Champ Jeep, these were extensively used before the army changed to Land Rovers and the indomitable Land Rover 101 Forward Control ex artillery tractor.
After a welcome from our team, groups will be given individual vehicle overviews, and histories so as to familiarise themselves with the vehicles that they will be driving. As these drives are a group activity, each vehicle will be allocated to a group.
When behind the wheel with your instructor your first impression will be of the driving position and the heavy steering. You will soon adapt to these conditions.
Also, the gear change will be different and brakes are not of the same standard as your own car so please be mindful of these points.
All drivers will drive a short familiarisation loop.
Once completed the drivers will drive a predetermined route which will take approx 10/15 minutes. The next drivers will do the same.
Once completed the route will be driven in a reverse order. All driving is under instruction
Note: There is no speed element in our activities.
Your group will then go to the next 2 vehicles where you will follow the same procedure.
Clients are more than welcome to take as many photographs as they wish but please make sure that you are well away from moving vehicles, and that drivers are not distracted !
The site that we have the kind permission of the farmer to use is intersected by lots of tight turns and it is important that all drivers do not cut corners and so damage any crops that that are growing there.
Please observe all directions given by your instructor as we cannot be responsible for any problems that might arise otherwise.
If you are not happy with anything to do with your drive for any reason, please advise your instructor straight away.
UK driving licence required.
Min height 5'2". Max height 6'6".
Max weight 18 stone.
As our vehicles are more than fifty years old they do not offer the luxuries of modern day motoring.Power steering, brakes and clutches are not an option with these vehicles. They are utilitarian and designed for combat usage and can be uncomfortable on occasions so please do not have too many expectations.
Older vehicles like ours can be fickle - should we experience a breakdown that cannot be fixed there and then and if we do not have a spare vehicle on site, then you will be entitled to return and complete your drive at a later date.
Please be very careful mounting and dismounting as they are not like getting in and out of a modern vehicle !
There might be space, on occasions, to take passengers, but this cannot be guaranteed. There will be a small charge of 10UKP per passenger for this service.
Please dress appropriately.
