What's included

Realise that childhood dream by spending a day learning how railway locomotives work, with theory and then practical experience on the footplate.
This course gives you an insight into the workings of a real passenger diesel locomotive.

In particular, the course will feature the opportunity to power up the railway's challenging 1-in-40 gradient which covers about 2 miles of the 3½ mile line.
We run 4 round trips plus shunting per course. Please bring some old clothes and sturdy shoes with you will have the opportunity to be involved in the coupling and uncoupling of the locomotive. To give each course member as much experience as possible, we limit numbers to 4 participants per course.

Voucher

Each voucher entitles one person to participate in this experience. The voucher is transferable, which means that anyone can use it. The voucher remains valid for bookings for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please contact the operator using the details printed on your voucher to arrange a date for your event.

Special Conditions

For driving experience courses we cannot accept bookings for participants under 18 years of age.

Booking your event

We recommend that you purchase your voucher and make a booking for your event at least one month prior to your chosen date. This is particularly important for weekend events.
