Cab Experience

Train Driving Experience

A cab pass is valid for one return journey in the cab of one of our heritage diesel locomotives, and provides the holder with a short but enjoyable insight into what the Driver and Secondmans duties include.

What's included

The pass holder is greeted by the loco crew with tea or coffee and you will receive a short safety brief. Then enjoy a ride in the cab on a four mile round trip. While there is NO HANDS ON EXPERIENCE a footplate pass makes the day just that little bit more special.

Voucher

Each voucher entitles one person to participate in this experience. The voucher is non-transferable, which means that only the person named on the voucher can use it. The voucher remains valid for bookings for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please contact the operator using the details printed on your voucher to arrange a date for your event.

Special Conditions

Footplate passes are not valid on special events unless booked at least 14 days in advance. All participants must be over 18 years old and be in good health. The railway reserves the right to change or improve our experiences, we may also have to change what we offer due to technical or operational reasons. We will always do our best to monitor and maintain the highest safety standards necessary to operate our experience days. If dates are changed without good reason and we are unable to fill the place left vacant, we reserve the right to charge a rebooking fee.

Booking your event

We recommend that you purchase your voucher and make a booking for your event at least one month prior to your chosen date. This is particularly important for weekend events.
